2021 – 2022 Concerts & Fundraisers Schedule
Due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus, we cancelled all of our concerts for the 2020-2021 concert year. However, the Paradise Performing Arts Center reopened for live events in May of this year, and we held a LIVE CONCERT by the Paradise Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, May 16 at the PPAC. “ARTISTS AND AMERICANO”, was presented featuring the winners of the Young Artists Competition from 2019. Allie Braito, Junior Division Winner and Sarah Harris, Senior Division Winner delighted and thrilled the audience with their presentations. In addition, the Symphony presented a rousing patriotic music concert on the 4th of July. Both of these concerts were free and were enthusiastically supported by the public. We also held our major annual Summer Fundraiser, “Music Under the Stars”, on August 29, 2021 at 5pm, and it was a rousing success. Our next major event is our first 2021-2022 Concert, “The Beauty of Strings”. Details are listed below and tickets will be available soon on-line or at the door.
Thank you for your ongoing support of the symphony.
Please note that our Concert starting time has changed to 6:00 pm for all in-person concerts at the Paradise Performing Arts Center. The Beauty of Strings
October 24th, 2021 | 6pm
Opening night for the 2021-22 season will feature strings! Guitar virtuoso Warren Haskell will be the PSO’s featured soloist with a pair of charming concerti by Antonio Lucio Vivaldi. Il Prete Rosso (The Red Priest) was a masterful composer of the Italian Baroque Era who provided us with some of the earliest solo music for guitar and orchestra.
Edvard Grieg’s energetic and lyrical suite known as “From Holberg’s Time – Suite in the Olden Style” will feature the String Section of our orchestra. The opus was written by Grieg to commemorate Ludvig Holberg’s 200th birthday (Dec. 3, 1684). Fittingly, Grieg based the composition on 18th century dance forms.
The Strings will be joined by their colleagues in the Woodwind, Brass, and Percussion sections for the balance of the program. Two stirring pieces of European Nationalism will be heard. Jan Sibelius’ homage to his beloved homeland “Finlandia” and Peter Ilyich Tchaikowsky’s “March Slav” will provide an exciting climax to the concert!

The first Fundraiser for the 2021-2022 season, “Music Under the Stars”, was held as scheduled on August 29, 2021 at the Bille Park Pavilion, and was highly successful, raising some much needed funding for the upcoming season. The event featured a delicious hot served meal, prepared by The Italian Guy Catering, both Live and Silent Auctions with approximately 60 donated items, and one of the more unusual concerts performed by the Symphony Orchestra. There were five interesting ensembles derived from the Orchestra including a Trombone quartet, a Woodwind quartet, a String quartet, and a Vocal and Guitar Duet, all of which was followed by a presentation of “Disney Magic” by all of the ensembles combined. Attendees of all ages joined Conductor Lloyd Roby singing familiar words to the Disney songs to end a wonderful evening. We are now beginning our planning for the Winter Fundraiser, “From the Symphony With Love”, which is scheduled to be held on February 13, 2022, with location to be determined.
