This May concert will feature the young, and young at heart, by showcasing the amazing performances of the winners of the Arlene Harms Young Artist Competition!  Also, this concert will entertain all, as we further explore what comprises the symphony orchestra. The “Instrument Petting Zoo” was received with great enthusiasm last year and will return with more excitement this season!

Honoring Our Country

July 4, 2024

We began our 2023-2024 Concert Season with an exciting “FREE” 4th of July patriotic concert “Honoring Our Country” performed at the Paradise Alliance Church with a staggering audience size of nearly 1,000! Our guest artists included a local favorite, “Big Mo” Huffman, singing “God Bless the U.S.A.,” Butte County Scottish Society Bagpipes & Drums, Paradise Veterans Color Guard, and Paradise Community Chorus and other local vocalists. It was a fantastic tribute celebrating our nation’s birth with a grand finale!

ARCHIVE OF RECENT CONCERTS AND EVENTS:

April 30, 2023, featured The Beauty of Winds.” One of the highlights of every year is the presentation of the winners of our Young Artists Competition. These amazing young people were truly exciting as they performed music of their choice with the orchestra accompanying them.  The woodwinds were represented by wind ensembles playing the music of Ravel and Debussy.

Our last Season began with our annual July 4th tribute to our country and was followed by the Summer Fundraiser, Music Under the Stars in August, which featured both live and silent auctions.   A catered dinner was served, and music was provided by ensembles from the Orchestra.

On October 22nd and 23rd, 2022, the Paradise Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with the California Regional Theatre presented the “Best of Broadway”, a glittering program of those wonderful, familiar Broadway tunes we’ve all enjoyed for so many years, including songs from current Broadway shows.  It was a toe-tapping event that kept you humming to yourself all week.  This is the first time in recent years that the Symphony Orchestra has had two performances back- to-back, to give patrons an opportunity to choose which performance they would like to attend.

Our next Holiday concert was another two-day collaborative concert with the Paradise Community Chorus on Dec 3/4, 2022, at 7:00 pm and 2:00 pm respectively at the Paradise Performing Arts Center.   For the second consecutive year, the Symphony ushered in the Holidays on the Ridge, with “Holiday In Paradise”, another joint spectacular like the one we enjoyed last year with the Orchestra, choirs, soloists, dancers, and more. And once again the audience was invited to sing along on select pieces.

Collaborative concerts with the California Regional Theatre, the Paradise Community Chorus, and other organizations are priced separately due to the complexity and costs of bringing in these additional resources. The cost of renting the music, alone, is one of the largest expenses. They are very popular with our audiences, however and will most likely continue in the future.

Our Winter Fundraiser, “From the Symphony with Love”, was held on February 19, 2023.  Attendees were treated to a delicious dinner of their choice; beef, chicken, or pasta primavera vegetarian, during which they were entertained by a quintet from the Paradise Symphony Orchestra, and beautiful music by last year’s Junior Young Artist winner, Sasha Iwobuchi.  Sasha was joined by the Symphony’s Concert Master Joel Quivey, for a special Duet after which the Dessert Dash was the featured final event of the evening.  March 12, 2023, was a concert “For Kids of All Ages”.   We were treated to pops and light classics and “Peter and the Wolf along with an “Instrumental Petting Zoo.”
